We invite you to a modern culinary adventure inspired by the ancient cooking techniques of Afghanistan.
“The recipes in this book are based on traditional dishes from several parts of Afghanistan. Altogether, it’s a tour through different regions and provinces, and it gives you a taste of the richness in Afghan food culture”.
An Afghan expression that says: “Nane piaz, pishanie waz” which means that no matter how wealthy one is, even a piece of bread with onion will suffice to welcome a guest, as long as you smile and show hospitality.
We proudly present you the first edition of our Afghan cookbook 'Saphar, a culinary adventure through Afghanistan'. In this cookbook, author Parwin Zamani makes a tour (Saphar) through the different provinces of Afghanistan, introducing local ingredients and using traditional recipes from her native country.
"Cook with your heart and think with your feelings". That was the first lesson Parwin Zamani learned from her mother when she taught her to cook. She writes this book to prevent the loss of recipes and traditions, which have been passed down through generations only orally.
The book paints a picture of the rich, exotic (food) culture of Afghanistan. Over 40 recipes for everyday meals and festive recipes for occasions are interspersed with beautiful photos of ancient Afghanistan, local customs and Parwin's personal stories.
